Welcome to the SPIM Doctoral School !

The Doctoral School « Sciences Physiques pour l’Ingénieur et Microtechniques » (ED SPIM, ED37) is part of the doctoral college.

Based on the activities of 11 research units (FEMTO-ST, ImViA, ICB, LIB, DRIVE, CIAD, SINERGIES, ELLIADD, ICMUB, LEAD, IRAMAT), the SPIM Doctoral School offers a particularly rich and favourable framework for high-level research.  The work carried out by PhD students is related to optics, electronics, mechanics, materials, energy, automation and computer sciences. Particular emphasis is placed on the internationally recognized cutting-edge sectors of microtechnology: advanced materials, intelligent structures and waves. Its doctoral supervision potential amounts to more than 260 executive staff members, distributed among the research units. Nearly 450 PhD students work there during the 3 normal years of the training cycle. They are located in 5 towns in Bourgogne Franche-Comté: Besançon, Belfort, Dijon, Montbéliard, Nevers, Sévenans, Le Creusot, Auxerre and Chalon-sur-Saône. The SPIM doctoral school awards an average of 110 doctoral degrees per year.
