This member must have enough expertise in the research field to situate the work in the international research context, to analyse the research methodology and the originality of the work. He is not a researcher from UBFC. He is the \u201cexternal\u201d member.<\/p><p>&#8211; A non specialist member (HDR or with an experience in PhD thesis supervision), far from the PhD thesis research field. He\/she is mandated by the Doctoral School, especially to evaluate PhD student\u2019s individual training plan and to detect any dysfunctions. The progress report must be approximatively 2 pages long.<\/p><p>He\/she sends the form, the report and the portfolio with the updates individual training plan to the committee members at least one week before the meeting.<\/p><p>The PhD student\u2019s supervisors fill in the \u00ab\u00a0Supervisor form\u00bb and send it to the committee members (Doctoral School template), one week at least before each meeting with the follow-up committee.<\/p><p>The internal member will ensure that the forms and reports arrive on time.<\/p><p>PhD student and his\/her thesis supervisors are responsible for organizing the annual meeting (date, location, \u2026).<\/p><p>The meetings are organized in three separate stages :<\/p><p>1)Presentation of the scientific objective, context (financial and experimental support, scientific environment \u2026), work progress, valorization and prospectives\u00a0 for the end of the thesis, presentation of training plan (thematic school\u2026), professionnal project\u2026 (20 minutes), followed by 15 minutes discussions.<\/p><p>2)Interview with the PhD student, without the supervisors (10 minutes approximatively)<\/p><p>3)Interview with the supervisors, without the PhD student (10 minutes approximatively)<\/p><p>Everyone is required to be discreet on what has been discussed during each interview.<\/p><p>It is recommended by the Doctoral School that, at least for the first meeting, the internal member should be present on site. The mission will be reimbursed by the Doctoral School.<\/p><p>If the external member attends the meetings, his\/her mission won\u2019t be refunded by the Doctoral School.<\/p><p>The follow-up committee writes a report based on the doctoral school template. This report which may be written in French or in English is validated (signatures) by the members of the committee.<\/p><p>The report evaluates the PhD student\u2019s training conditions and his\/her progress work. The report may highlight the strengths and the points to improve.<\/p><p>The report gives recommendations and advices.The follow-up committee gives an opinion on the re-enrollment of the PhD student or if appropriate, on the PhD thesis extension.<\/p><p>The internal member returns the report to one of the doctoral school administrative manager :<\/p><p>UMLP : Alika ROSSETTI (<a href=\"mailto:ed.spim.besancon@ubfc.fr\">ed.spim.besancon@ubfc.fr<\/a>)<\/p><p>UTBM : Caroline DELAMARCHE (<a href=\"mailto:ed.spim.belfort@ubfc.fr\">ed.spim.belfort@ubfc.fr<\/a>)<\/p><p>UBE : C\u00e9line DAUBIGNEY (<a href=\"mailto:ed.spim.dijon@ubfc.fr\">ed.spim.dijon@ubfc.fr<\/a>)<\/p><p>The head of the Doctoral School, if necessary, asks for modifications or additionnal information. Once the report has been validated by the doctoral school, it is forwarded to the supervisor and the PhD student.
